CompTIA is the renowned IT certifications provider and they are successfully providing up to date vendor neutral IT certifications to help out IT professionals in building up their career. Recently, CompTIA has celebrated 20 years of success, having 1 million certified professionals approximately. The best thing of their certifications is that they consistently update their certifications content in order to cope up with the latest technology. As a result of these updates, CompTIA has recently announced to add DOS questions in CompTIA A+ certification.
A+ certification is designed to provide essential skills to the PC technicians, these days most organizations have established their own IT infrastructures and they required skilled professionals to maintain them. The A+ certification offers skills regarding maintenance of personal computers, mobile devices, operating systems, laptops and printers, all these elements are essential component of an IT infrastructure. You must be thinking why I should acquire CompTIA certification, well having a theoretical knowledge is not good enough, and to work in professional environment one must have practical knowledge and technical skills. CompTIA aims to provide knowledge and skills about latest technologies which are proven to be effective for IT professionals. Beside this many reputed companies required CompTIA certified professionals for the maintenance of their IT infrastructure such as DELL, Lenovo and Intel hire CompTIA certified technicians.
Now considering the update, CompTIA has announced that they are going to add DOS questions in A+ certification; a Microsoft framed Disk Operating System, released back in 1981.The CompTIA spokesman said,
“After much internal deliberation, we at CompTIA decided that the way forward is backwards. There are literally twos or threes of situations where an extensive knowledge of DOS would be vital for a modern PC technician.”
Quoting an example he further added,
“what if an A+ technician fell into a wormhole in the time/space continuum and had to find work fixing computers in the mid-80s? We at CompTIA strive to prepare our students for the unpredictable temporal topology that they’ll have to deal with every day as a certified technician.”
According to CompTIA, the DOS command-line interface is still used in many businesses that have been disconnected with the outside world for nearly past 30 years.
“It may surprise you, but a significant portion of our client base is in what we like to call ‘chronologically isolated communities,’ such as North Korea and Alaskan fishing villages surrounded by impassable glaciers. Also: survivalists who have been living in underground bunkers since the Cold War.”
The A+ certification will be updated soon and the new A+ candidates will experience the change in A+ certification. Currently, to earn A+ certification candidates have to take two exams, 220-801 and 220-802. The 220-801 exam addresses installation and configuration of PC hardware, laptops and basic networking, whereas 220-802 exam deals with the understanding of PC operating system, network connectivity, mobile operating system such as Android and Apple iOS.
IT professionals who are currently preparing for A+ certification should consult CompTIA regarding the affect of this update.
